DO SOMETHING!!

It’s really hard to live in a society that is filled with more complainers than doers. Finding fault is always the easier route to take when faced with the situations of life, which brings us to the topic of working in the church. Seems awkward but let’s explore this topic anyway!

We live in a church environment that requires the involvement of all the parishioners…all the members that come for fellowship and guidance. Providing an environment for such a group is not easy. Ministry is not an easy task and should not be taken lightly. Just like the idea of handling groups of people, there is always a challenge involved. People, especially when placed in a group setting, always create a sense of friction due to the gathering of different ideas, lifestyles, and beliefs. Yet, when we think about the fellowship that should exist within the church, one would have to stop for a moment and consider where we (the church) has gone wrong.

Why is it that we expect things to just fall in place because we are in the building?

Have we even stopped long enough to consider the work involved for the church to carry on each week?

We love programs and activities but have we considered the prep and diligent work it took to bring these type of events before the people?

Do we sit back and see something that needs attention and do absolutely nothing about it?

Do we complain instead of helping whatever situation may arise?

Is there always an excuse for why you can’t do or help when asked?

Are we like the sluggard that is mentioned in Proverbs 21:25,

“The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him because his hands refuse to work”

If you continue to read, in Proverbs 26:14;

“As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed”

Don’t find yourself sleeping when you should be doing something important and meaningful.

Proverbs 18:9 states…“He who is slothful in his work is a brother to him who is a great waster”

We live in a society that demands a certain standard from the church community. “Everything Goes” should not be the theme of our ministries. Keeping this in mind, we have to build and work diligently in our various ministries to keep God’s purpose alive in our lives. It is certainly not the time for us to be dissatisfied with the work of the ministry. When we grumble and complain about what’s not being done in our ministries, we set ourselves up to fail. This type of behavior draws more and more B.U.G.S. (Being Under The Grip Of Satan). A ministry full of B.U.G.S. will never prosper or grow as God intended.

There has to be a time that we search ourselves and actually “DO SOMETHING” instead of complaining and grumbling. Who wants to be a part o a group that is infected with constant complaining! Nothing is ever right for this type of people. The ministry is definitely harmed by such bad behavior. It is difficult for ministries to recover when their time is spent sifting through complaints and dissatisfaction. The root of which is simply one of those B.U.G.S. ( Being Under the Grip Of Satan).

When are those complainers going to get up off their mountain of complaints and grumbling and “DO SOMETHING”?

If the church needs cleaning, help clean it!

If the music is lacking, see if you can help or at the least pray that they improve.

If the ushers are not doing their task correctly, help them or do some research to help them improve …complaining won’t correct the issue!!!

If there are not enough people to help put over a program, offer your services instead of looking to be served.

When you see the brothers need help fixing up the church, roll up your sleeves and offer to help instead of picking out what was done wrong. Teach instead of complaining.

We must understand that complaining or grumbling about things will never change it or make it better. You must become the key to making anything better.

Philippians 2:14-15 states…”Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Get up and “DO SOMETHING”!!!

Don’t waste precious energy grumbling. Learn to rejoice more about the building of your ministry. Become a Godly servant that serves the ministry.

“DO SOMETHING” with the energy God has given you!!! Don’t waste it on things that really have no substance. You must understand and recognize the trick of Satan B.U.G.S.(Being Under The Grip Of Satan).

When your focus is turned toward the negative, there is no room for God to work in your life. You are not making room for your faith and Godly skills to truly flourish. Anything that stands in the middle of something that has no motion, will eventually stink or become stagnant. The process of complaining and not doing can be deadly to you and the ministry. Need I remind you of the trouble the Israelites created by complaining. They forgot the fact that they had been released from bondage. How soon we forget!!! Complaining and grumbling only got them further away from their promised land. After all, it took 40 years of wandering in the wilderness.

Our churches(ministries) need obedient and positive thinking people involved in order to carry out visions and missions. STOP COMPLAINING AND FINDING FAULT…“DO SOMETHING”. DON’T LIVE THE LIFE OF A SLUGGARD!!

The believers (the church) of this world have a task to do. We should do it with our best skills. We must have faith that God will build accordingly! Building requires one to work diligently in order to complete the assigned task. God has given us (believers) a task to carry out. There is not much time to waste complaining and grumbling. When this happens, we are diverted from the work assignment at hand. Do you see the trick of the enemy? B.U.G.S. ( Being Under The Grip Of Satan)

Complainers never have time to carry out assignments. They generally take on the characteristics of a SLUGGARD“. God never intended for us to be lazy and uncaring about ministry. There are many souls at stake! Is this a fair price to pay for being a SLUGGARD and not attending to the assignment?

Make it up in your mind that this type of behavior will have to cease in order for our various ministries to grow and give full attention to God’s purpose in our lives. Consider your ways if you fall into this category. Don’t you think it’s time to “DO SOMETHING?”
